Blackburn ZZTopDog has been bred to Sow's Ear Thierren of Blackburn, with pups expected in mid February, 2006.  The following are brief synopses of these two terriers:

ZZ is 11 3/4", T&W, with a light broken coat.  He is a personable, easy-going terrier who has been a nice terrier to have in the field.  He has worked raccoon, possum and groundhog over the years, by himself and teaming up with other terriers.  He's shown very good manners in the field, never getting into a scrap with a fellow worker. He's worked well with both males and females. He's a wonderful athlete, demonstrating his abilities in a variety of trial venues: he's been a staple in under racing since he was a puppy, he's always in the ribbons in GTG, has fared well in agility, and has won numerous lure coursing classes and championships.   We're anxious to see what he produces, given that he will produce the first Blackburn grandchildren!

Terra is 12 3/4", T&W, with a rough coat.  She's a very laid back terrier, who gets along very well with the rest of our pack.  She has been one of our best hunting terriers, accounting for raccoon, possum and groundhog, like ZZ.  She stayed just barely under until about a year and a half of age, and up until that point was one of the primo under racing terriers in the Midwest.  Since going over in mid-2003, she's still held her own against the over bitches, making the finals in most cases.  She has also been a success in other areas, taking numerous conformation championships/bests, winning the Suitability to Red Fox class dozens of times, as well as championships in other divisions (overall, trailing & locating, lure coursing).  We love her prototypical Sow's Ear look and are excited to see what she produces.  This will be her maiden breeding; her littermate, Sow's Ear Blanco, owned by Kathleen Simmons of Glenledi Terriers, has already produced some nice pups.

By combining the hunting brains and temperaments of ZZ and Terra, we're anticipating smart earth workers, good athletes and wonderful companions out of this cross.  To inquire about puppy availability, please e-mail Blackburn Kennel.
